Christmas Starts in April: The Seasonal Sourcing Calendar

Peak-season party products often fail on timing rather than demand. Here is a planning framework buyers can adapt to their program.

Why timing beats everything

In the party business, products do not fail because of demand — they fail because of timing. A Christmas line ordered in September may not clear customs before shelves are stocked. The factories are full, the container space is priced up, and every delay compounds.

The calendar we work with

For North American peak seasons, we work backwards from the in-store date: samples and compliance paperwork first, production slots reserved well ahead of the rush, consolidation scheduled so the whole program ships as one container, and buffer built in for inspections and holidays.

What buyers can do this week

Ask your supplier one question in writing: "If I need a rush reorder during peak season, what is your actual turnaround?" Everyone says yes to "can you do it" — the timeline, in writing, is the answer that separates a plan from a hope.
